On November 17, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeast Michigan (BBBSSM) had an unforgettable experience at the University of Michigan Women’s Basketball Game held at the iconic Crisler Arena in Ann Arbor. Around 11 BBBSSM matches (mentors and mentees) were invited to sit courtside, enjoying an up-close view of the high-energy game and feeling the electrifying atmosphere of a major college sporting event.
This special day wasn’t just about basketball—it was about building connections and inspiring the next generation. BBBSSM team members had the rare opportunity to tour the practice facilities, where they saw firsthand the hard work, dedication, and teamwork that drives the Michigan women’s basketball team to success.
Connecting with the Team
The day was full of memorable moments as BBBSM team members had the chance to meet some of the players and coaching staff, hear about their journeys, and share in the excitement of the game. The highlight of the experience was getting autographs from the players—an exciting and personal moment for everyone involved.
But the impact went beyond just a fun day out. This event underscored the power of mentorship, teamwork, and community—values that BBBSSM holds at its core. It was a reminder that just as athletes push each other to succeed on the court, mentors and mentees do the same in life, building each other up and achieving great things together.
Looking Ahead
The BBBSSM team is deeply grateful for the opportunity to be part of such a special event and for the chance to connect with the University of Michigan Women’s Basketball Team. Events like this serve as a reminder of how important it is to support, inspire, and empower the next generation of leaders, both on and off the court.
As BBBSSM continues its work to build stronger, more resilient communities, moments like these serve as powerful reminders of the impact that can be made when we come together. This experience further solidified the organization’s commitment to helping youth reach their full potential through mentorship and community support.
