The Gift of Big isn’t just volunteering your time, The Gift of Big gives the world what it needs most — the potential of America’s youth. At Big Brothers Big Sisters you don’t need to give the biggest gift, but everyone has the chance to give the gift of BIG

BBBS events

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeast Michigan hosts a variety of events each year so that our community can support youth facing adversity to reach their full potential through the mentoring experience. Inspire. Ignite. Empower. Potential!

Bowl for Kids' Sake (BFKS) Community/Board Bowl

November 2024

Bowl for Kids’ Sake events are one of Big Brothers Big Sisters most meaningful fundraising activities.  Money raised through sponsorship, registration and peer to peer fundraising at each BFKS helps build community awareness about Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeast Michigan and funds our work to match children in a professionally supported one-to-one relationship with a caring adult. BFKS is a fun-filled event that provides our corporate partners and other community organizations the opportunity to show their support by raising dollars and awareness to support Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeast Michigan!

A Fall Evening with Big Brothers Big Sisters

Fall 2023

This casually elegant event occurs annually in September and is held at a private, noteworthy home, with fine food, wine and cocktails. The event includes a thrilling live auction and 52 card raffle, special entertainment, inspiring words from BBBS program participants and the good company of friends, old and new. This year’s event (2023) was hosted on September 10th at the historic Inglis House in Ann Arbor and enjoyed superb weather, a serene setting  and a jovial atmosphere. BBBS was able to raise over $204,000 in support of one-to-one mentoring, community engagement and support programs for our Littles, Bigs and their families! We are very thankful to our Presenting Sponsor–The Jones Family Foundation; Marlee Brown and Dan Musser–our gracious hosts, and all of our generous sponsors; auction, raffle and door prize donors; and our attendees! Even if you could not attend this auspicious event, you can still support our mission, programs and activities by donating and/or volunteering!

Grow a Little Breakfast and Rise & Shine Breakfast Events

Spring 2024

The Rise & Shine event is hosted annually in May and includes a wonderful breakfast where we recognize our supporters and present community partners, Bigs and Littles whose inspiration moves us all. We are grateful to everyone who joined us at Rise and Shine for Kids’ Sake on Tuesday, May 23 and our Grow a Little Breakfast in May! Your support helps us make a real difference in the lives of young people in our community. The Rise & Shine event was held from 8-9 am at Barton Hills Country Club in Ann Arbor. At Rise and Shine, attendees learned about the organization’s work with youth and heard inspired words from University of Michigan Football Student Coach JD Johnson.

Big Brothers Big Sisters also hosted the Grow a Little Breakfast on Thursday, May 18th from 7:30-9:00 am at the Durfee Innovation Society in Detroit.  Grow A Little is an inspiring, mission-focused, breakfast fund-and friend-raising event to learn about BBBS and how guests can engage with the organization. There is no cost to attend. At the end of the breakfast, after learning about BBBS and listening to inspirational keynote speakers, guests are invited to become monthly MatchMakers.  They can also choose to donate a different amount on an annual or one-time basis, host a volunteer recruitment event at their home or office, sponsor another BBBS fundraising event or help to recruit volunteer mentors.
